Held on August 15 every year around Jung-dong and Sang-dong, Nonggigodumari is an old folk ritual that promotes harmony and solidarity between villages with an agricultural tool knock-down competition. This event is a great opportunity for villagers to enjoy themselves and unwind after a hard day of work in the fields. The Nonggigodumari usually starts upon the end of weeding. It was said that during the initial weeding and the second weeding, farmers would stick agricultural tools on a ridge between rice paddies and a Nongak band (traditional Korean farmer band) would play cheerful music to entertain workers as they were weeding.
